http://www.chem.unep.ch/ The
production volume of ammonium chloride in Japan was
85,600 tonnes in 2001. In Europe, the same range of
production volume as in Japan is estimated and in the
U.S., a production of 10,000 - 50,000 tonnes per year
is estimated. This substance is mainly used (approximately
70%) as a fertilizer for water paddies in Japan. This
substance is also used as an electrolyte for dry cell
batteries, a flux agent for coating sheet iron with
zinc, a tinning agent, a food additive, therapeutic
drug and so on. In the U.S., this substance is mainly
used as feed additive to prevent the formation of calculi
for cattle.
